TruCheck Early Cancer Blood Test

Taking a TruCheck blood test can highlight up to 70 types of solid cancer tumours by detecting circulating-tumour-cells before your body has even shown symptoms.

When you detect cancer in its early stages, treatment is more effective, and the chances of a positive outcome are significantly increased. It also helps prevent the spread of cancer to other parts of the body.
Our TruCheck Early Cancer Screening blood test is a thorough check for the existence of cancer in your body, identifying which type of cancer(s) you have, and from which organ they have originated. TruCheck’s tests have been validated across cohorts of over 40,000 patients. TruCheck is the ideal bolt-on to your annual Thyme Whole Health Check

There are certain restrictions on who can take the test. Please check the following before registering your interest:

  • You must be 40 years or older
  • If you are aged between 35 and 40 and are deemed high-risk, please get in touch with our team to discuss further

How Does The Test Work?

The TruCheck Intelli Early Multi-Cancer Screening blood test checks your blood sample for Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs), and clusters of the cells. CTCs are cancer cells that have detached from a primary tumour and entered the bloodstream, circulating around the body.

This revolutionary test has the ability to detect cancer at its earliest stages.

From a simple blood test, your sample is analysed at the laboratory to detect the presence of any CTCs and therefore to determine whether you currently have any cancers in your body.

Trucheck is designed to be used in addition to, and not replace conventional screening.

This test requires a simple blood test taken from a vein in your arm.

Book Your Test

Complete the ‘register your interest’ form to start the booking process for your TruCheck test. A member of the Thyme team will contact you to complete your booking and then we’ll arrange a convenient appointment time for you in clinic to take your blood sample.

Your Consultation

Your Thyme GP will go through your medical history and discuss any concerns that have led you to take the test. Your GP will also explain the risks and benefits associated with the test. A small blood sample will be taken.

Analysis

The sample is then sent off to a specialist UK laboratory for analysis.

Results Follow Up

A follow up consultation will be arranged with you once the results have been received. This takes approximately 2 weeks.

Early Cancer Blood Test

Why is this test so Revolutionary?

Launched in the UK in late 2022 after rigorous clinical trials, this test is brand new to the diagnostic screening industry. It is the only test available publicly to check for Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs), detecting even the tiniest existence of cancer from a small blood sample.

Highly accurate, it not only identifies whether you have CTCs, but also where they originated. This means you know where in your body the primary tumour is located, speeding up diagnosis and treatment, and enabling doctors to focus treatment on the required areas.

    • You must be 40 years or older
    • If you are aged between 35 and 40 and are deemed high-risk, please get in touch with our team to discuss further
    • You must have no symptoms of cancer currently – please get in touch with a GP immediately if you are concerned about any symptoms you may have
    • You must not have been diagnosed with any cancer previously
    • You must not have previously undergone any treatment for any cancer
    • You must not have had a blood transfusion within 72 hours of your blood sample being taken

Please ensure you carefully review the above eligibility criteria before booking the test, as failure to meet the criteria or any subsequent changes may result in the test being declined during the pre-consultation.

  • A positive test result means that CTCs have been detected in your blood. The test also indicates the location of the cancer with reasonable accuracy. Whatever your result, you will have a follow-up consultation with your doctor. They will advise you on the next steps and refer you to private oncology specialists if required for further investigation.

  • A negative result means that at the time of the test, there were no detectable cancer cells in your bloodstream for the list of cancers being tested.

This does not entirely rule out the possibility of cancer as some cancers may not have detectable tumour cells in the blood. It does not mean that you will never develop cancer.

  • This is a non-invasive and radiation-free screening test, so regular testing is possible. We advise that for peace of mind the test can be performed as part of a Thyme annual Whole Health Check.

Whole Health Checks

Begin the journey to understanding your health and wellbeing

Thyme’s annual Whole Health Checks are designed to determine your current state of health and to give the best chance of early detection of diseases and avoiding complications. The key to live a healthier life

  • Increased stress, lack of time for physical exercise and unhealthy eating can lead to gradual deterioration of our general health.
  • Some lifestyle diseases are ‘silent killers’- they harm our body without causing any symptoms. Our preventive Health Checks can screen for these diseases.
  • Many cancers are symptomless and not diagnosing them at an early stage can cost lives. People at risk of developing cancer can have a better chance of recovery if they invest in regular health checks.
